I really have come to dislike captchas. I get the idea, no one want a bunch of spam. But really, does it have to be so difficult?
1. I can’t read the darn things half the time with all the fuzzy, wiggly backgrounds, different sized letters, and letters at different depths. I especially hate the ones that look like negatives, white on black then black on white. You know the ones. Those couple letters that fall in the transition area are virtually illegible. I swear I have to do two or three of them before I correctly enter the right letters.
2. I hate that they are often very close to real words. My eyes automatically see a real word and my fingers type it. I believe that is an actual phenomenom where people see familiar patterns and their brain completes it, even if it’s not there. So, what happens? I type an actual word and I have to do another one. Why can’t they just use a completely made-up jibberish word?
3. I hate on some blogs when I type in my comment, click to publish the comment, only to have a captcha show up after. It’s like an evil little game. Oh, you can comment here, it’s okay, go ahead. GOTCHA! Just kidding! (evil laughing) Half the time I’m clicking to close the tab I have open and I see it pop up a nanosecond too late. I do not go back and recomment.
Ok, I got that off my chest. I really do hate them.
