I was so excited when I was contacted to review Piggy Paint! My two oldest girls love to have their nails painted.  I’ve been using it as a reward after they get their finernails clipped.    It’s so cute when they have their nails painted and they love it.  What I don’t like is the yucky smell that fills up our house.  And I really hate even having that toxic nail polish remover in my house.  I’m always worried the girls are going to get into it, even though I keep it out of reach.    Piggy Paint seemed like the perfect solution.

I received a bottle of the nail polish and a bottle of their nail polish remover to try out.

First thing I did was take a look at the ingredients.  The nail polish remover is corn alcohol based and the nail polish itself is water based.  I loved that!  No toxic yucky stuff.  Then I smelled them both.  They both have an odor, but it is not nearly as strong as the traditional products.  The remover smells like rubbing alcohol.  I can’t quite place the smell of the polish, but it is no where near as strong as regular polishes.  I even left the lid off the nail polish remover and it didn’t leave the room all stinky!

The Piggy Paint nail polish remover isn’t as quick at taking off the polish as my traditional stuff, but it does take it off.  It took off both the regular polish and the Piggy Paint polish.  The Piggy Paint polish came off easier than the traditional polish did.  I found if I held the cotton ball I was using on the nail and rubbed back and forth, the polish came off pretty easily.  My two year old held still for it, so it really didn’t take too long. My favorite thing about the nail polish remover is that it comes with a child proof lid.  Not only is it not a nasty chemical, but if my kids happen to get hold of the bottle, they’re not going to be able to open it.  As it should be.  Brilliant!

I love the Piggy Paint polish!  They have all these great colors!  (I received Forever Fancy, third from the left.) Both girls (and mommy) tried it out.  The color is true, it looks just like the color in the bottle.  It goes on easily and wears just like my regular polish.  I really could not tell the difference between Piggy Paint and regular polish except for the lack of smell from the Piggy Paint!   They recommended using a blow dryer on low to dry it, so we did that.  I don’t know why I wasn’t doing that before.  It dried quickly and my little girls didn’t smudge their polish.

I really love this product and will continue to use it!  It’s non-toxic, not smelly, and works just like traditional products.  I’d much rather put something non-toxic on my kids!

Oh, sweet! When I first started reading, that “tick tick tick” happened in my brain about how unhealthy fingernail polish is.

And then I kept reading and was totally impressed and amazed! I’ll have to check into them more.

    Great review!

I thought about you when I agreed to do the review. Would this be Crunchy Betty enough? I think it’s pretty good (not homemade or anything, but pretty good.) :)
