I’ve been wanting a new look for my blog for a while. I’ve been hemming and hawing about whether I should try Thesis or Genesis or some other premium theme and try my hand at designing my own blog or if I was going to have someone design a whole layout for me.
I finally decided that I liked the control of having a theme (I went with Catalyst, by the way) so I can change the background, colors, fonts, and layout myself without messing up the whole design, but I still wanted a nice header, matching button, and signature. And, to be honest, color schemes are not my thing. Even when I look them up online, they still don’t quite work.
I was keeping my eye out and found out a friend and one of my favorite Tweeps/bloggers/writers, Stephanie, The Drama Mama, from The Scoop on Poop, does designs! Did you know that?!? She’s sneaky about it, keeping a separate blog for her designs at Genie Girl Graphics.
She mostly does blogger designs, but since I had just installed Catalyst which makes it easy to work with, and I was willing to let her play around with it a little, she said she’d give WordPress a go. Clearly, it worked out well. (This is where you click over if you’re in a reader to look. Go ahead, I’ll wait.)
Squee!! Love, right?
Stephanie took what I knew I wanted and what I knew I didn’t want and made me the fabulous header, button (go ahead and grab it, you know you want to), and cute signature! Isn’t it pretty and lovely and feminine? And don’t you just love the flowers and the butterfly? Love the butterfly! It’s so me.
She did such a wonderful job and took my vague ideas and turned it into this wonderful design that just feels like home and at an extremely reasonable price to boot. (Really.)
So if you’re looking for something new or updated check out Stephanie at Genie Girl Graphics. Her button is in my sidebar too. And really, if you’re not reading The Scoop on Poop and her writing blog My Write Side, you’re missing out. Just sayin’. (Also, where does she find the energy?)
