BlogHer was full of excitement from the get go. When I walked into the hotel, I was excited to finally meet my roommates in real life. I ran into Kristin in the line for Starbucks on my way up to the room. She said Sue had worked out with Bob Harper just that morning and had a story to tell me.
Oh. My. God. Bob Harper! I love Bob Harper! If you don’t know who he is (like Sue), he’s the male trainer on The Biggest Loser which I think is an awesome, positive reality show. He also has kick butt work out videos. I’m do his Inside Out Method videos intermittently. I love them. They are a hard workout when I’m wanting to be pushed. They make me sore for about five days after, so I don’t do them as often as I should, but one day, I will dominate those workouts. Also, he’s vegan, I believe, so that’s another plus in my book.
So this is Sue’s story. The hotel room overlooked a courtyard where Friday morning, Sue looked out the window and saw BlogHer attendees doing a yoga class. She was disappointed she didn’t get a chance to do it.
Saturday morning she looked out the window and saw them setting up again. She hurried down to join. It took about ten seconds into the workout for her to realize she was not going to be doing yoga, but rather a boot camp type workout with some guy named Bob Harper. So she did it, having no idea who he was.
After the class, she rolled up her mat to leave while the rest of the women swarmed Bob. Sue left to go shower. Back in the room, she asked Kristin if she knew who this Bob Harper guy was. Kristin, told her and told her I was going to freak out.
She was right. I freaked out. What neither of them realized was this just added to my non-celebrity encounter curse. I live in L.A. There are celebrities all over here. I have never seen one on my own. A couple times we’ve passed someone and Sean has said, oh, that was so and so. I just about wrench my head off my neck trying to spot them, and I don’t. Sean has celebrity clients and pets of celebrities come in all the time. I saw Laura Dern’s father once. He’s a director, but I would have never known if he hadn’t told me. Otherwise, no celebrities. I want to see them. I don’t know why, but I do. So missing Bob Harper just added to my overall disappointment that I never meet famous people.
So I was living off the knowledge that I was rooming with someone who had not just seen, but had a workout taught by, Bob Harper. Then, as I was walking by the Expo hall with Kristin, she pointed out he was there taking pictures with people.
Finally, my time had come. After cruising the Expo hall for some swag (priorities people), I stood in line and finally, I met a real, live famous person. And I have proof.
