New! Little Angels DVD Series

Tuesday I had the opportunity to take Penny and Ella to a special day with Roma Downey for the launch of her new preschool series, Little Angels, available February 14.

The girls had a blast. They got their faces painted, ate peanut butter and jelly popcorn, and colored Little Angels activity sheets. Mommy had a blast. (Did I mention Roma Downey was there.)

She talked about this great new series that combines preschool learning with lessons of faith.  She said her goal was to fill both the minds and hearts of the children who watch the DVDs.

The series revolves around 4 year old twins Alex and Zoe who have eight angels living in their room who help them out when they have problems.  Each of the angels has a special talent to help the kids in different situations.  One of the angels is an artist. The kids can jump into his pictures to experience parts of the Bible, such as meeting Adam and Eve and learning about the value of work (and cleaning up your room).

My girls LOVE these videos!  They are our new favorite.  They love the angels and all their talents.  There are three videos right now with more in the works, the ABCs, 123s, and animals.  My girls like the animals video the best.  They get to visit the garden of Eden and learn how Adam was tasked with naming the animals.

As a parent, I love these videos, too. There are times when I just need a video to get a few minutes to get something done (or just check Twitter).  I love that these videos have great, quality content. The learning is age appropriate and fun. In addition, they learn a little about the Bible and about love and hope.

It is definitely Christian and directly references biblical stories like Adam and Eve and Noah’s Ark.  It’s very age appropriate.  The Bible stories are used to reinforce the lesson the twins are to learn in the episode.  Growing up going to church every Sunday, I’m very comfortable with the level of biblical references. It’s present, but as stories, not pushing religion on the children.

There are also two board books which are so cute! I love the idea behind Thankful For God’s Blessings .  When Alex is having a bad day, the angels take him through a gratitude game to show him all the good things in his life and improve his attitude.  It’s a game, I’m going to keep in mind when one of my girls are having a woe is me moment.

They also have an app available on iTunes that features a daily prayer.

This is such a cute new series! If you’re looking for something new to supplement your DVD collection, definitely check out Little Angels. It’s available February 14th.

** I received a copy of the Little Angels DVDs and books to preview. The opinions are, as always, mine.
