Spring is here in L.A. It’s my favorite season. We’ve had some gorgeous weather, sunny, warm, and things are blooming. Those lovely blooms are from our fruit tree in the backyard. Any guesses what they’ll turn into? We’ll be getting our rainy season here soon (we get some short sprinkles and one week of heavy rain).
My garden is growing and it’s time to get planting. I found this great site, Sprout Robot, on Pinterest. You just enter your zip code (where it says change zip), and it tells you week by week what you should be planting. I never know when I should be planting things, so this is very helpful. It also looks like you can sign up and they’ll ship you seeds.
I started roma tomatoes and another variety of tomato, eggplant, and red peppers indoors. The girls and I planted sunflowers, peas, beans, and green onion seeds in the garden outside.
This is how the rest of the garden is growing:
The grape vine I transplanted into the garden has some shoots. It won’t bear fruit this year, but hopefully it will next year.
My lettuces and kale are ready for harvesting. Delilah has been enjoying a few leaves and we will this week too.
The strawberries have flowers and even a couple of small berries. Can’t wait until they start producing!
And my broccoli has started to produce. One little floret so far in all six of the plants I put in.
Have you started gardening yet? What are you planning on planting this year?
Oh, and those are apricot blossoms. I love that tree.
