Today is Samantha’s very first field trip. Her kindergarten is going to the L.A. zoo. We got the permission slip last week along with a very excited Samantha.
Why the excitement? Because she was going on a field trip for the first time? Because she was going to the zoo? No, she was most excited about how they were getting to the zoo. Yellow bus.
She has never ridden a bus before, so she’s been talking about it all week. When asked what she’s going to see at the zoo, she’ll mention some animals and then finish with “AND WE’RE RIDING A BUS!!!”
In fact, all the kids seem most excited about the bus. At pick up and drop off all I’m hearing is about how they’re taking the bus.
Since I like to pretend I’m cool, I dropped a bomb on her. School buses don’t have seat belts. She fell to the floor in shock, her eyes and mouth wide open for a good two minutes.
After school today, I expect a low down on the field trip, mostly about the bus.
